“If you want to live a happy life, tie it to a goal, not to people or things.”
- Albert Einstein.
Trevor Chomyszyn
Trevor’s interest in the ocean began early in life. He was especially inspired by the explorers who visited the Titanic wreck after its discovery in 1985. That curiosity deepened when, at eight years old, the 1997 film renewed global interest in the historic tragedy. As he continued learning, he became increasingly fascinated by the ocean’s mysteries, motivated by how little we still know about what lies beneath its surface.
During university, Trevor took part in an international exchange program that brought him to the United Kingdom. While abroad, he backpacked across several European countries, eager to experience new cultures and perspectives. One unplanned stop in Germany, however, had a profound and lasting impact. While visiting Dachau Concentration Camp near Munich, he was deeply moved by the experience — an unexpected moment that reshaped his understanding of history and humanity.
Trevor was confronted firsthand with the darker aspects of human history — witnessing the tragic consequences of intolerance and complacency. This unexpected experience left a profound impact on him, shaping his perspective and instilling a deep sense of civic duty: the responsibility to seek knowledge, understand it, and ensure its preservation for future generations. In 2018, Trevor returned to Europe, this time visiting the Auschwitz Extermination Camp in Poland. Motivated by a desire to honor and preserve the stories of Holocaust survivors, he traveled with purpose — to learn, to remember, and to carry their voices forward.
Over the years, Trevor has remained deeply engaged in community service and leadership. He has served as a Condominium President, is an annual participant in Movember to raise awareness for men’s health, and regularly runs in the RBC Race for the Kids in support of youth mental health initiatives. Trevor also volunteers as a mentor for newcomers adjusting to professional life in Canada through TREIC, and is a passionate student of history and exploration, dedicating much of his time to marine science, archaeology, and Holocaust education.
Trevor earned his Bachelor of Commerce in Global Business Management from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2012, making it on the Dean’s Honour List in his final year. In 2011, he broadened his academic and cultural horizons through an international student exchange at Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom.
